Deb has been a resident of Champaign County for more than 30 years. She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Jefferson Middle School in Champaign. Deb graduated from Centennial High School in 1985 and went on to Mount Holyoke College and IIT Chicago Kent College of Law. Deb spent her last year in law school at the University of Illinois and began to practice in Urbana working for the Illinois Pollution Control Board. She is currently a partner and a practicing attorney with the Champaign-based law firm of Nally, Bauer, Feinen, & Mann, P.C. In addition to her work as an attorney, Deb spent several years as a partner in Mutters Dog Biscuits.
Deb is married to Chuck Feinen and the mother of Karlee and Catherine. Deb is the daughter of Steve Frank, a retired local attorney who practiced with the Urbana firm of Johnson, Frank, Frederick & Walsh and Linda Frank, Champaign County Circuit Clerk. She also shares her home with two dogs – Prűm and Porthos.
A History of Public Service
A current At-Large City Council Member, Deb served on the Champaign County Board for fourteen years, running and winning the election 4 times. In 1992 she received the highest number of votes of all Board Candidates in District #6 and in the 2002 election, she received more votes than any other Champaign-Urbana County Board candidate. Deb is a former candidate for State Representative for the 103rd Dist. which is comprised of Champaign and Urbana.
For four years, Deb served as the County Board’s Vice Chairman. During that time, she successfully helped balance the Champaign County budget. Deb has served as the chair of several County Board Committees including Solid Waste, Environment and Land Use, and Human Services. Deb has also served for five years on the joint Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration Committee for the County and has served on the Regional Planning Commission, Community Services Board, Project 18 Board, and the Head Start Policy Council. Deb was the Co-Chair of Champaign County Republican Women Habitat for Humanity Project and has volunteered for Green Meadows Girl Scouts, Land of Lincoln Legal Services Foundation, Head Start Foundation, and the Partners for Parkland Campaign 2003. She also served on the YMCA Public Policy Committee and as a liaison to the Developmental Disabilities Board. Deb is the President of the Montessori School of Champaign-Urbana Board of directors and served briefly as a Board Member on the Amasong Board.
