City of Champaign Requests Citizen Input
In an effort to “Help Us Keep You Informed,†the City of Champaign is organizing June and July citizen focus groups, face-to-face dialogues and an online survey to update the City’s 2003 – 2008 Public Communication Plan. City staff will listen and gather information as community members share thoughts on the best ways for Champaign to provide needed information to citizens.
“Communications technology has changed dramatically since 2003 when our first communications plan was implemented. We strive to provide consistent, timely, and accurate information in ways that meet our citizens’ expectations,†said Joan Walls, Assistant to the City Manger, Community Relations.
To achieve this goal, several opportunities for citizen input are offered.
City staff will be available at several scheduled summer park events:
• June 3 6:30 PM Heritage Park (2101 W. Bradley Ave.)
• June 14 6:00 PM Douglass Park (512 E. Grove St.)
• June 24 6:30 PM Turnberry Ridge Park (Cobblefield Rd. / Balmoral Dr.)
• June 28 6:30 PM Hessel Park (1401 Grandview Dr.)
Citizens are invited to participate in two repeated forums:
July 16 6:30 PM Douglass Branch Library (edge of Douglass Park)
July 18 11:00 AM Champaign Public Library (200 W. Green St.)
Additionally, a short survey may be accessed at http://ci.champaign.il.us/survey/. Hard copies of the survey will be available at the City Information Desk in the City Building, 102 N. Neil St., the Champaign Public Library and Douglass Branch Library.
All feedback will be shared with Council at a future study session this fall.
